Panels of Ghent 04-25-2014

First order of business, yesterday's pedometer reading 14875 steps.  Today's reading 12051.  We left Leiden this am on the road to Ghent.  Our mission today was to locate and view the "Ghent Altar Piece", a series of panels painted by the Van Ache brothers 600 years ago.  These panels were featured prominently in the recent movie "The Monument Men".

The most important part of any trip is to eat good, sleep good, and have a purpose.  We located and viewed the panels, had a great lunch, and afterwards headed for Brugges, Belgium to locate our cottage we will stay in there. We had lunch at an establishment that had been in existence since 1854.  Linda and Pat had Lasagna, Larry had chicken soup and I in keeping with my custom of eating the local fare, ordered Flemish Stew of Pig Cheeks, accompanied by a stein of Augustijn Beer.  This beer was made by a local abbey. The weather was great and afterwards we headed for Brugges.
